Office Manager/Accounting Assistant

Under the general direction of the Finance Director, the Office Manager/Accounting Assistant is responsible for administering and coordinating office operations and accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The position ensures office processes run smoothly, maintains accurate financial records, supports budgeting and compliance requirements, and provides administrative support to the Board of Trustees, staff, vendors, and the public. Work is performed following established procedures, District policies, and industry best practices.

Benefits include paid sick leave, paid annual vacation leave, paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and family, longevity pay, an annual clothing allowance, a 6% employer contribution to a 457-tax deferred retirement system, and the Montana Public Employee’s Retirement System. Annual Salary: $60,000 - $70,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

MRFD is located in picturesque Western Montana and proudly serves a population of more than 38,000. MRFD is a full-service fire district covering 84 square miles in Missoula County. There are currently five fire stations that operate 24 hours a day. MRFD employes a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and five civilian positions. Operations include 54 career firefighters who work a 24/48 schedule. MRFD is also supported by up to 15 volunteer firefighters.
