Structure fire 4110 South 3rd Street West
April 16, 2026
News Release Prepared by: Battalion Chief Ron Lubke
At Approximately 06:05 am on April 16th, 2026, Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) was dispatched by Missoula County 911 to a reported structure fire at 4110 South 3rd Street West in Missoula. The initial report was for a fire on the porch of a house. The first units arrived on the scene seven minutes after the dispatch and found a small one-story home with heavy fire showing from the front porch. The fire had extended into the residence, and the occupants had already evacuated.
Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack, knocking down the flames on the porch and then moved to the interior of the structure to complete extinguishment. The fire was declared under control approximately 20 minutes after arrival and was completely extinguished in just over an hour.
MRFD responded with two engines, two water tenders, a ladder truck, a command unit and a fire investigator. MRFD was assisted at the scene by Missoula County Sherrif deputies, a Missoula Emergency Services Inc. ambulance, and Northwestern Energy. There was a total of 14 firefighters on scene. The home sustained significant damage; however, an exact damage estimate is still being determined. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. MRFD fire investigators are still on scene at the time of this release. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident.
MRFD would like to remind the public to always have working smoke detectors installed in their homes. Smoke detectors should be installed in all bedrooms and outside of all sleeping areas on every level of the home.
