Missoula Rural Fire District's (MRFD's)
system of geographically dispersed firefighter
stations, our water tenders capable of carrying
some 8,000 gallons, and our automatic "mutual aid" back-up from neighboring districts allow us to readily respond to structural or wildland fire emergencies within the District and throughout Missoula County at any time of year.
MRFD has always been a strong supporter of the "closest station" response. Consequently, agreements are in place with local, state and federal agencies to dispatch the closest apparatus to a fire. This means City Fire may respond to a structure fire in the foothills of the Rattlesnake Wilderness, while MRFD may arrive first to a wildland fire on state land in Patty Canyon.
FIRE FACT: Candles are the #1 cause of house fires.
