2011 STATS

For the third year in a row, Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) firefighters won the Team and Individual awards in the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle, Washington, on March 6, 2011.

The Stairclimb is a fundraiser which supports the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raising money through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising, and entry fees. This unique race is conducted in full combat gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and is the largest individual firefighter competition in the world.

Individual:

-1,550 Firefighters registered for the event, and 1,336 finished the climb

2010 STATS

On Sunday, March 7, 2010 more than 1,500 firefighters from 250 departments across the United States, Canada, Germany, and New Zealand competed in this timed race to the top of the Columbia Center in full combat gear and self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). This unique event is the largest individual firefighter competition in the world.

Once again, MRFD took top honors in both team and individual results.

Out of the 1,500 plus registrants, there were 1,294 firefighters that finished the event. MRFD had two firefighters in the top 5, and another placed 15th.
