Medical Services
Missoula Rural Fire District crews are trained
in a variety of specialized emergency responses, including medical. With five stations placed across the District, we are often the first responders to a scene.
MRFD has been providing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to Missoula County since the District's creation in the early 1960s. As of 2007, we have 68 Emergency Medical Technicans (EMTs) available from our career and volunteer ranks. Many of these "EMT Basic" firefighters have continued their educations to become EMT Intermediates and Paramedics.
Annually, MRFD personnel respond to about 1300 emergency medical-related calls. Each of our fire stations is equipped with an Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine that carries the latest technology in emergency equipment, including cardiac monitors (defibrillators). With this equipment, we can offer our patients the best chance of survival.
REMEMBER: In an EMERGENCY, seconds count! CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.
